黃鳥黃鳥你聽着，不要聚在榖樹上，別把我的粟啄光。住在這個鄉的人，如今拒絕把我養。常常思念回家去，回到親愛的故鄉。
黃鳥黃鳥你聽着，不要桑樹枝上集，不要啄我黃粱米。住在這個鄉的人，不可與他講誠意。常常思念回家去，與我兄弟在一起。
黃鳥黃鳥你聽着，不要聚在柞樹上，別把我的黍啄光。住在這個鄉的人，不可與他相處長。常常思念回家去，回到我的父輩旁。

⑴黃鳥：黃雀。
⑵榖（gǔ）：木名，即楮木。
⑶谷（gǔ）：養育。“不我肯谷”即“不肯谷我”。
⑷言：語助詞，無實義。旋：通“還”，迴歸。
⑸復：回去。邦：國。族：家族。
⑹明：通“盟”，講信用。
⑺栩（xǔ）：柞樹。

不我肯谷。 Me no food grant
言旋言歸， All the time I long

此邦之人， People dwelling in this place
